Ernst Kunkel (politician, 1901)

Ernst Kunkel (born January 23, 1901 in Ahlum , Braunschweig district ; † January 15, 1981 in Wolfenbüttel ) was a Lower Saxony politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Kunkel attended elementary school and then completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith between 1915 and 1918. He became a member of the SPD in 1915 and was a trade union and party functionary until 1933. Between 1934 and 1945 he was employed as a controller at the Büssing company in Braunschweig . After the Second World War , he began rebuilding the SPD in the Wolfenbüttel district in 1945. Here he became district chairman of his party in 1946.

Public offices

Furthermore, in 1946 Kunkel became a member of the city council of Wolfenbüttel as well as a member of the district council and district administrator of the Wolfenbüttel district . He was also a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament in the first to sixth electoral periods from April 20, 1947 to March 4, 1970.

Honors

He is the bearer of the Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Great Cross of Merit of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit .
