Ernst Ludwig Rathlef

Ernst Ludwig Rathlef (* 1709 ; † April 19, 1768 in Nienburg ) was a German Lutheran theologian .

Life

Rathlef studied theology at the University of Helmstedt from 1727 , became second adjunct to pastor Uhle in Langenhagen in 1741 , superintendent in Diepholz in 1744 and first pastor and superintendent in Nienburg in 1752.

In addition to his pastoral work, Rathlef was also active as a writer. He was a contributor to the third volume of Gabriel Wilhelm Goetten's “Now Living Learned Europe” , which he continued in eight parts from 1740 to 1744 under the title “History of Now Living Scholars”.

In the years 1754 to 1756 he published the weekly "Der Theologe" together with JCW Meyer, which he continued in 1757/58 under the name "Der Gottesgelehre" and in 1759 as the "Sonntagsblatt".
