Gabriel Wilhelm Gotten

Gabriel Wilhelm Götten (born December 4, 1708 in Magdeburg , † August 28, 1781 in Hanover ) was a German Lutheran theologian and general superintendent.

Life

Götten was a son of the pastor Heinrich Ludwig Götten at the St. Nicolai Church in Magdeburg. He studied theology and became pastor at St. Michaelis in Hildesheim in 1743 , fourth pastor at the city ​​church in Celle in 1736 , pastor and superintendent at St. Johannis church in Lüneburg in 1741 , second pastor at the palace church in Hanover in 1746 and member of the consistory . From 1758 he was also superintendent of the general diocese of Hoya-Diepholz . From 1761 to 1781 he was first pastor at the castle church in Hanover and general superintendent of Calenberg .

Together with Ernst Christoph Böttcher , Götten was the founder of the Hanover School Teacher Seminar .
