Ruth Ratter b. Koch (born April 30, 1955 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) is a German politician from the Greens . She was elected as a list candidate in the 16th Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament in 2011 . In the election for the 17th state parliament in 2016, she failed because her party received fewer seats than before.

education and profession

Ratter first attended the Kurfürst-Ruprecht-Gymnasium in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and then switched to the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium , where she passed the matriculation examination in 1974. After studying to become a high school teacher at the University of Cologne , she taught German, philosophy and ethics at the Kurfürst-Ruprecht-Gymnasium from 1991 to 2011. She is married, has two grown sons and lives in Deidesheim .

politics

In 1994 Ratter joined the Greens. From 1994 to 2009 she acted as a parliamentary group member and speaker in the council of the Deidesheim community , from 1994 to 2004 in the Bad Dürkheim district assembly and from 2004 in the Pfalz district assembly . In the Bad Dürkheim district association of the Greens, she was the spokesperson for the board of directors from 2010 to 2012;

In 2011 Ratter founded the “forum | new education ”, which unites 15 initiatives in Rhineland-Palatinate under one roof and is committed to the further development of schools towards more equitable education, inclusion and education in democracy. In the field of culture, she awarded the HIL prize. In memory of the Deidesheim artist Wolf Hildebrandt “hil” and his wife Itta, this is advertised on a current topic of civil society and awarded annually to a young photographer.

Even before she became a party member, Ratter had founded the non-partisan citizens' initiative "Mittelhaardter against aircraft noise" and was involved in various regional associations. In 2009 she was a founding member of the Friends' Association for the Memorial for Nazi Victims in Neustadt , and has been a member of its board ever since. She is committed to networking memorial initiatives in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Honor

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate honored her with the award of the Freiherr vom Stein plaque in 2010 .
