Ernst Otterbach (born June 26, 1920 ) is a former German soccer player .
career
Ernst Otterbach, who mostly played in the position of the right or middle runner, began his career at SC Hedelfingen before he started with VfB Stuttgart in the Gauliga Württemberg from 1942 to 1944, due to the Second World War in the 1942/43 season , was also active as a guest player at FC Mulhouse . After the war he played from 1945 to 1947 for the city rivals Stuttgarter Kickers in the football league south . With teammates Edmund Conen , Helmut Jahn , Siegfried Kronenbitter , Reinhard Schaletzki , Helmut Schmeißer and Albert Sing , he reached seventh place in the 1946/47 season, one point behind VfB. Otterbach completed 29 league games with four goals for the Kickers.
From the round 1948/49 he was again active in Bad Cannstatt at VfB Stuttgart. With the team of coach Georg Wurzer he came in the Oberliga Süd in 1950 to the runner-up and in 1952 belonged to the southern champions. In the final round of the German football championship in 1950 , Otterbach was part of the VfB's defensive department in all four games - including the victorious final on June 25 in Berlin against Süddridden Kickers Offenbach - coach Wurzer always teamed up with Otto Schmid and Erich Retter , Richard Steimle , Otterbach, Josef Ledl and Karl Barufka had been nominated.
In 1951 he and the VfB team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf .
When he won the title in 1952 in the south, he was only used twice. On March 31, 1952, he played as the right runner in the 0-1 away defeat at SV Waldhof Mannheim, his last league game. With his final round on June 2, 1952 in the 3-2 defeat at Rot-Weiss Essen , he was also German champion in 1952 with VfB . For VfB Stuttgart, Ernst Otterbach completed 77 games in the Oberliga Süd from 1948 to 1952 and scored nine goals.
His brother Otto Otterbach was also a soccer player with the Stuttgarter Kickers .
