Ernst Otto Schimmel

Ernst Otto Schimmel (born August 14, 1889 in Zwickau , † April 26, 1930 in Glauchau ) was a German administrative lawyer and Lord Mayor of Glauchau.

Life

Born the son of a middle school teacher, Schimmel studied law and political science in Leipzig after attending the humanistic grammar school in Zwickau . During his studies he became a member of the Arminia fraternity in Leipzig in 1910 . He passed his exam and was awarded a Dr. iur. obtained his doctorate and was a trainee lawyer in Leipzig from 1916 . After his assessor exam in 1916, he became a legal assessor in Glauchau. After serving a short time for the city ​​council in 1917had worked in Leipzig, he became a judicial assistant and then council assessor at the city council in Glauchau. He became city administrator, second legal city councilor and in 1918 first legal city councilor and deputy mayor. In 1921 he became mayor , in 1924 first mayor and later lord mayor.

Honors

In Glauchau a street bears his name, here still simply called Otto-Schimmel-Straße , without his first name.
