In Munich he became a member of the Corps Vitruvia. In 1913 he completed his studies with a degree in engineering. In the following year he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD. He then joined Philipp Rosenthal & Co. AG , where he worked, among other things, in the isolator factory and its test field. After acquiring activities, he became operations manager of the Hennigsdorf porcelain factory of AEG , which was under the management of Philipp Rosenthal & Co. AG . In 1922 he became a board member of Philipp Rosenthal & Co. AG and was responsible for managing the sales organization of the isolator factories. He was also a board member of the Association of Ceramic Trades in Berlin and a member of the supervisory board of the United High Voltage Insulator Works in Berlin and the Sillimanit Isolatoren Vertriebs-GmbH in Berlin.

Because of his Jewish descent, Rosenthal emigrated from Germany to Great Britain in 1935 , where he became Managing Director of Rosenthal China (London) Ltd. , the exclusive sales agent of Philipp Rosenthal & Co. AG in the United Kingdom . After the Second World War he also became a member of the Board of Directors of Lawleys , of which he was a member until 1963.
