Create

Ernst Syberg completed a law degree at the University of Copenhagen until 1931 before he devoted himself to landscape painting as an autodidact , mainly with watercolors and oil paintings. He joined the landscape painters Karl Bovin (1907–1985) and Alfred Simonsen (1906–1935) and the artists' colony Odsherred Painters in northwestern Zealand . Travels to France , Spain and Italy aroused his interest in architecture, especially in Italy, and paintings of buildings, streets and squares were created. Syberg designed wall decorations in Florence and Rome . The artists' association Corner in Copenhagen gave him a reliable opportunity to exhibit his works. Works by Ernst Syberg hang mainly in Nordic museums, for example a double portrait of his parents in the Danish National Gallery, in the Statens Museum in Copenhagen. Ernst Syberg died in Vellerup in August 1981.
