from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ernst Gotthelf Albrecht Tillich alias Ernst Gottlob Freudenreich (born February 17, 1780 in Groß Breesen , † October 30, 1807 in Dessau ) was a German educator .

Life

Tillich was born as the son of a schoolmaster or country school teacher. At the end of his university studies he received his doctorate and founded a private institute for the education and instruction of boys as a master in Leipzig. Pestalozzi was particularly important to his didactic and pedagogical orientation . Together with Ludwig Heinrich Ferdinand Olivier , he founded the educational institution in Dessau with the support of the sovereign , which began operations at Easter 1805. However, there were differences of opinion with Olivier, so that Tillich soon took over the management of the school alone.

Tillich, who enjoyed a high reputation as a professor and teacher and was well looked after thanks to the princely support, nevertheless died very young. His burial is in a vault on the south side of Cemetery I near Dessau. In 1821 a memorial plaque was placed there with the inscription:

“Here the holy tomb of the wise educator of the youth,
Tillichs, the young man and old man pays tears of gratitude.
To ensure that the heavenly spark does not develop too brightly in man,
a strict fate tore him out of the active circle early on. "
