Ernst Gägel (born March 5, 1936 in Marpingen ; † April 23, 2020 in Marpingen) was a German football player who was active for the Saarland national team .

Career

He played for 1. FC Saarbrücken from 1955 to 1960 , with whom he made it to the semi-finals of the DFB Cup in 1957 and 1958 . In the 1957 game at Bayern , which they won 3: 1 by n. V., he had to retire injured before the start of extra time. He also played two games in the final round of the German championship 1956/57 , but could not win any of them, so in the end the last place in the table was determined. Later he was still active at VfR Kaiserslautern from 1961 to 1962 .

On June 3, 1956, he came to the national team of the Saarland to a use in a friendly match against the reserves of the Portuguese national team , which ended 0-0.
