Ernst Ziel (born May 5, 1841 in Rostock , † February 16, 1921 in Berlin ) was a German writer and editor.

Life

Ernst Ziel attended high school in Rostock and the commercial academy there to become a businessman. He then studied history and literary history in Rostock , Bonn , Leipzig and Berlin . In 1869 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1872 he was co-editor of the family magazine Die Gartenlaube in Leipzig and took over the management of this newspaper until 1883 after the death of the founder and editor-in-chief Ernst Keil . He then worked as a freelance writer in Cannstatt in Württemberg .

Ernst Ziel had been married to Wilhelmine von Mickwitz since July 1872 and had two children: Käthe (* 1873) and Curt (* 1874).
