Erwin Hillbrand

Erwin Hillbrand , actually Josef Erwin Hillbrand , (born March 17, 1899 in Innerbraz , † August 16, 1971 in Feldkirch-Levis ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ), managing director and purchasing manager. From 1934 to 1938 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament and from 1948 to 1950 Vice Mayor of Feldkirch.

education and profession

From 1914 Hillbrand completed a commercial apprenticeship at the Vorarlberger Genossenschaftsverband or Raiffeisenverband in Bregenz and worked between 1926 and 1954 as managing director of the Verbandsmühle in Feldkirch. From 1954 to 1964 he was purchasing manager at the Verbandsmühle in the Bregenz headquarters.

Politics and functions

Hillbrand was appointed as a representative of the industry and mining profession by the Vorarlberg governor as a member of the state parliament in 1934. He was a member of the state parliament during the period of the corporate state and Austrofascism from November 14, 1934 until the annexation of Austria on March 12, 1938. In the interwar period he was a member of the Christian Social Local Party and its chairman, and from 1914 a member of the Youth Book Austria. In terms of local politics, he worked as deputy mayor of Feldkirch from 1948 to 1950 after the Second World War, was then a member of the Feldkirch city council and city council from 1950 to 1955, and was also mayor of Levis from 1952 to 1955.

Hillbrand was chairman of the Vorarlberger Müllerverband from 1945 to 1955 and was active as chairman of the supervisory board of the Raiffeisenkasse Feldkirch from 1930. Between 1944 and 1971 he was her chairman. He also worked as a councilor in the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce, was an assessor of the restitution commission at the Feldkirch regional court, a member of the district school council and an assessor of the labor court. He was also involved as a lay judge at the trade senate of the Feldkirch regional court, was vice-president of the VATC, chairman of the Feldkirch tourist office and a member of the board of the Catholic-commercial association Brigantia. In addition, he held the function of chairman of the administrative board of Stadtwerke Feldkirch.

Private

Erwin Hillbrand was the son of the shoemaker and community treasurer Josef Anton Nikolaus Hillbrand (1866–1929) and Anna Maria Theresia Graß (1867–1910). He married Theresia Tötsch (1904–1964) on February 22, 1927 in Bregenz and in 1931 had a son. Hillbrand was married to Maria Claudia Jochum (1906-1994) from 1944 onwards.
