Erwin Kopp

Erwin Kopp (born July 3, 1877 in Berlin ; † April 24, 1928 there ) was a German actor , radio play speaker and theater director .

Live and act

Kopp began his theater career shortly before the turn of the century and initially appeared on small and insignificant stages. His role was initially that of character lover, but soon also that of character comedian. From the beginning of the 20th century, Kopp worked on theaters in Greiz, Liegnitz, Stuttgart and Riga, where he was also able to work as a director. He then found engagements at the Märkisches Landestheater as well as the Berlin Schiller Theater and the German Theater Berlin under the direction of Max Reinhardt . During the First World War, Erwin Kopp also appeared at the front theater in German-occupied Lille and in Saarbrücken. Back in the capital after the end of the war, Kopp could be seen with leading roles such as Riccaut in Lessing's Minna von Barnhelmand Polonius in Shakespeare's Hamlet on numerous Berlin theaters. During this time, he sporadically took on small film roles in productions by well-known directors such as Ernst Lubitsch and Wilhelm Prager .
