Erwin Riegel

Erwin Riegel (born January 29, 1922 in Lübeck , † April 12, 1982 in Bad Harzburg ) was a German journalist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Riegel attended middle school and evening school . From 1939 to 1942 he worked in industry. From 1939 to 1942 he was a soldier during the Second World War , after which he worked in administration. In 1945 he joined the SPD; From 1946 he was a member of the board of the Young Socialists in Lübeck and in 1949 became their chairman and member of the SPD district board in Lübeck. From May 1947 to March 1948 he studied philosophy and history at a folk high school .

From August 1949 to July 1951, Riegel completed an editorial traineeship at the Lübeck Free Press and from 1951 worked as an editor for the newspaper. In the same year he was elected to the Lübeck citizenship . He belonged to the citizenry until his death.

In 1954, Riegel was elected to the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament in the Lübeck-Mitte state electoral district. In 1958 and 1962 he entered the state parliament via the SPD state list and was a member of it until 1967. He was a member of the committees for work and development, for the constitution and rules of procedure, for displaced persons , for health and in the transport committee. From 1954 to 1962 he was a member of the state election committee.

Riegel was a member of the IG Druck und Papier .
