Erwin Rosenthal (local history researcher)

Erwin Rosenthal (born December 10, 1939 in Swinoujscie ) is a German philosopher who worked as a local researcher in his retirement . He is primarily concerned with the history of his homeland, Pomerania .

Life

Immediately after the bombing raid on March 12, 1945, Erwin Rosenthal left Swinoujscie with his mother and two siblings in his native town. After attending school in Seebad Heringsdorf , he completed training at the Institute for Teacher Training in Franzburg . In 1960 he took up a job as a teacher at the school in Ückeritz . He completed his studies at the Pedagogical Institute in Güstrow in 1967 with the state examination for teachers of the ten-class general polytechnic high school in physics. From 1969 to 1972 he taught at the EOS / POS Seebad Heringsdorf. In 1972 Rosenthal took up a position at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University Greifswald after completing a five-year distance learning course as a graduate philosopher. In 1976, he gained promotion to Doctor of Philosophy . In 1979 he received his PhD B to Dr. sc. phil. granted, which was converted into a habilitation (Dr. phil. habil.) in 1991 . In both dissertations he dealt with philosophical problems in physics. From 1984 to 2000 he was a professor at the University of Greifswald. His field of research was philosophical problems in the natural sciences.

Today Erwin Rosenthal lives in Greifswald and deals with local history.
