Erwin Scheerer

Erwin Scheerer (born March 26, 1905 in Ludwigsburg ; † February 21, 1984 there ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Scheerer remained loyal to his Swabian homeland all his life, although he enjoyed a good reputation as a sculptor all over Germany.

Artistic creation

The artist created numerous monuments on behalf of state institutions. He participated in the construction of the war memorial in the city of Heilbronn . In Hoheneck (independent until 1926, now part of Ludwigsburg) Scheerer created a sculpture on the Neckar Bridge on the Hoheneck side. It shows the larger than life bronze figure of a wreathed, unclothed young man, from whose outstretched hand a falcon is about to fly. Other works by the artist in Ludwigsburg: teacher and pupil , teacher and pupil , worker , St. Christophorus , girl with jug , Hans Klenk , river god . On April 23, 1958, Scheerer erected the Max Planck Memorial in Kiel on the site where the scholar's house once stood for the hundredth birthday of Max Planck .

It shows a bust of M. Planck and an inscription on the front. On the side surfaces there is an appreciation of the life and work of the honorary citizen of the city of Kiel and the honorary senator of the University of Kiel as well as a quote from a late speech by the scientist.
