Erwin Thijs
Erwin Thijs (born August 6, 1970 in Tongeren ) is a former Belgian cyclist .
Erwin Thijs started in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona in the road race , which he did not finish. In 1993 he became a professional cyclist at Collstrop . In his first year he won the Hel van Het Mergelland and the overall classification of the Circuit Franco-Belge . After two years he moved to Vlaanderen in 2002 , from where he joined Lotto in 2001 . After a year he moved to Palmans-Collstrop . In 2005 he won a stage of the Ster Elektrotoer . In spring 2006 he won the Danish GP Aarhus . He also won the sixth stage of thePeace ride that ended on the famous steep face of Meerane . After the 2007 season he ended his career.
