Erythronium mesochoreum is a species of the tooth lily genus( Erythronium ).
features
The onions are 10 to 25 millimeters in size and ovoid to more or less spherical. The leaves are 5 to 14 inches long. The leaf blade is green, mostly spotted, elliptical-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, folded lengthwise, frosted, sometimes purple-brown at the base and edge and with a smooth edge. The shaft is 5 to 15 centimeters long. The inflorescence is single-flowered.
The petals are 15 to 30 millimeters in size, lanceolate, white, pink, blue or lavender on the underside of the leaf and with a yellow spot at the base on the upper side. There are no ears. The stamens are 8 to 12 millimeters in size. The stamens are lanceolate and yellow. The anthers and pollen are yellow. The stylus are 7 to 10 millimeters in size and white. The lobes of the scar are 1 to 1.5 millimeters long and bent over. The capsules are 10 to 15 millimeters in size and egg-shaped. The seeds have elaiosomes and are spread by ants.
The flowering time is in spring.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.
Occurrence
Erythronium mesochoreum is found in the US states of Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas. The species grows on the prairie, in clearings and in dry, open forests at altitudes of 100 to 700 meters. Occasionally it can also be found on pastures.
