Esa Peltonen (born February 25, 1947 in Oulu ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player .

Career

Peltonen took part in a total of 488 games of the SM-liiga , he scored 317 goals and reached 527 points. He played with Oulun Kärpät (1965–66), Upon Pallo (1966–69), HJK Helsinki (1969–72), HIFK Helsinki (1972–83). He and his team won the Finnish Championship twice , here he was on the ice in 39 play-off games and scored 35 points. Because of these achievements, he has been appointed to the Finnish All-Star Team four times.

Internationally, he was a member of the Finnish national ice hockey team in 277 (93 goals / 142 points) matches . With her he took part in four Olympic Games ( 1968 , 1972 , 1976 and 1980 ) and eleven ice hockey world championships (1967 to 1978).

In 1990 he was inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame and in 2007 into the IIHF Hall of Fame .
