Esben Smed

Esben Smed Weinholt Jensen (born July 13, 1984 in Odder ) is a Danish actor .

Life

Esben Smed successfully completed his acting studies at the Statens Scenekunstskole in 2013 . During this time he was already active as a theater actor and was able to assert himself with both the audience and the critics through his play, which is why he was awarded the renowned Reumert Theater Prize in 2014 as the best young actor .

Smed celebrated his breakthrough with the portrayal of John Jensen in the summer of '92 staged by Kasper Barfoed , which is based on the victory of the Danish national soccer team at the European Championship in 1992 . For his portrayal he was nominated for a Bodil for Best Supporting Actor. Through this role, he then received the leading roles in Amina's letters , Per in luck and Daniel . For the last two, he was nominated as Best Actor for Robert , and he was also awarded for his portrayal of Daniel Rye . In 2019 Esben Smed was awarded the Ove Sprogøe Prize .

Smed has been married to the six years older filmmaker Line Daugbjerg Christensen since 2014. The couple have two children together, a son and a daughter.
