Esbern snare
Esbern Asserson Snare (* 1127 in Fjenneslev , † 1204 in Sæbygård ) was a Danish nobleman and military leader. He was the son of Asser Rig of the Hvide family and brother of Archbishop Absalon of Lund . With this he was also an advisor to the Danish king Waldemar I. He took part in the battle on the Grathe Hede (near Silkeborg ), in which Sven , a competitor for the throne of Denmark, was killed.
In 1170 he founded Kalundborg , which later became the port city of the same name.
The Danish warship Esbern Snare is named after Esbern Snare , on which Maria Fjodorovna , the mother of the last Russian Tsar, Nicholas II , wife of Tsar Alexander III, died in 1928 . and great-grandmother of the current Danish Queen Margrethe, was transferred from Denmark to Kronstadt near Saint Petersburg on September 25, 2006 , to be laid in the Peter and Paul Cathedral , the family crypt of the tsarist family.
