history
The noble family of the Hvide (Weiss) had their seat in Fjenneslev, where the Danish King Waldemar I (1157–1182) grew up as the foster son of the family. The oldest surviving member of the Hvide family is Skjalm (Lord of Zealand), who built a wooden church on his farm. The Sasser- or Fjenneslevstenen , next to the Fjenneslev kirke, is said to refer to a member of the family who had built a bridge over the Tuleå.
