Sorø Kommune is a Danish municipality on the island of Zealand . It was created on January 1, 2007 in the course of local government reform by merging the “old” Sorø municipality with the previous municipalities of Dianalund and Stenlille , all in the Vestsjællands office . The administrative center is in Slagelse .
The municipality of Sorø has a total population of 29,881 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and an area of 308.30 km². It is located in the Sjælland region , the administration of which is based in Sorø .
