Escobaria minima is a species of plant in the genus Escobaria from the cactus family(Cactaceae). An English common name is "Nelly's Cory-Cactus".

Escobaria minima usually grows individually with egg-shaped shoots that reach heights of 1.2 to 2.5 centimeters (rarely up to 7 centimeters) with a diameter of 1 to 2 centimeters (rarely up to 4 centimeters). The warts are up to 3 millimeters long. The 20 to 25 flattened thorns are very close, lie strongly against the shoot surface and cover it. They are chalky gray, yellow or slightly pink and 3 to 8 millimeters (rarely up to 14 millimeters) long.

The flowers are bright pink to reddish purple in color. They are 2 to 2.5 inches long and reach the same diameter. The green, almost spherical fruits are 5 to 10 millimeters long.

Systematics, distribution and endangerment

Escobaria minima is common in Brewster County, Texas and in the neighboring Mexican state of Coahuila on desert grassland between limestone rocks. The first description as Coryphantha minima was published in 1931 by Ralph O. Baird . David Richard Hunt placed them in the genus Escobaria in 1978 .

Escobaria minima is listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention on Endangered Species . In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
