Escobaria villardii is a species of plant in the genus Escobaria fromthe cactus family (Cactaceae).
The specific epithet villardii honors “Reb” Villard, who discovered the species.
description
Escobaria villardii forms clumps with up to eleven shoots . The spherical to cylindrical shoots reach heights of 6.4 to 15 centimeters with diameters of 3.2 to 6.4 centimeters. They appear messy white and have a slightly rounded apex. Your warts are 6 to 11 millimeters long and furrowed along their entire length. There are six to ten central spines . The one or two longest of them are protruding and ashes. They have a darker tip and are 1.2 to 2 centimeters in length. The remaining central spines are translucent white and 0.6 to 2 inches long. The 20 to 36 white radial spines are bristle-like and 0.5 to 1.2 inches long. Some of them are curved.
The white flowers do not open wide and have a dark central stripe. They are 2 to 3.5 inches long and reach a diameter of 0.8 to 2.5 inches. The cylindrical green fruits are 1.1 to 2.1 inches long. Occasionally they are covered with a few woolly scales.

Escobaria villardii is common in the United States of America in the Sacramento Mountains in the state of New Mexico .
The first description by Edward Franklin Castetter , Prince Pierce and Karl Henry Schwerin was published in 1975. A nomenclature synonym is Escobaria sneedii subsp. villardii (Castetter, P. Pierce & KHSchwer.) Lüthy (1999).
