Toufic Farroukh

Toufic Farroukh , Arabic توفيق فرّوخ, DMG Taufīq Farrūḫ , (* 1958 in Beirut ) is a Lebanese musician ( saxophone , bouzouki , percussion ) and composer in the field of fusion and ethno-jazz .

Live and act

Farroukh first had lessons from his brother, a saxophonist. In Beirut he worked with Ziad Rahbani and Joseph Sakr, a. a. as an actor in the play Binisba Lebookra Shoo (German: what will be tomorrow) and in two plays with Ziad Rahbanis, the film Ameriki Tawil and Shi Fashel . He moved to Paris to study, where he studied music at the conservatory; In 1994 he released his debut album Ali on Broadway . In his other productions he worked a. a. with the singer Rima Khcheich . In the following years he also composed a number of film soundtracks. In his music he mixes Arabic music with jazz , pop and current dance music , in which he incorporates trends such as drum and bass , electro and rap . In 2011 he performed with his Absolut Orchestra at the Dubai International Jazz Festival.
