Silex Records

Silex Records is a French music label that was founded as an independent label in the late 1980s by producers André Ricros and Philippe Krumm. It specialized in world music .

history

In addition to ethnomusical field recordings, the label released productions by u. a. Beñat Achiary , Valentin Clastrier , Paolo Fresu / Jacques Pellen / Erik Marchand, Louis Sclavis , Toufic Farroukh , Tony Muréna , Elena Ledda, Émile Vacher , Titty Robin, Bagad Bro Kemperle, Trigon , Denez Prigent , Riccardo Tesi / Patrick Vaillant / Gianluigi Trovesi and Alain Gibert . These were largely characterized by the fact that a crossover between folklore and jazz was created; sometimes it was also about imaginary folklore . Musicians from the field of jazz such as Kenny Wheeler , Michel Godard , Michel Marre , Michael Riessler , Peter Gritz and Bernard Lubat were involved. An album by the Moscow Art Trio was also released under license (as Mikhail Alperin / Arkady Shilkloper / Sergey Starostin ).

The label was acquired around 1994 by the record company Auvidis , which in turn was bought in 1998 by Naïve Records .
