Esmeralda Ruspoli

Esmeralda Ruspoli (born June 24, 1928 in Rome as Smeralda Giovanna Amelia Palma Maria dei Principi Ruspoli , † September 1, 1988 in Panarea ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Esmeralda Ruspoli was born in Rome as a descendant of the noble family of the Ruspoli . She was married to the actor and playwright Giancarlo Sbragia (1926-1994). Together they have three children: Ottavio, Viola and Mattia Sbragia . The marriage later ended in divorce.

Act

She made her film debut in 1960 in Michelangelo Antonioni's award-winning film Die mit der Liebe play in the larger role of Patrizia. Other films and TV series followed, for example she could be seen as Lady Montague in the successful Shakespeare adaptation Romeo and Juliet by Franco Zeffirelli in 1968 . Her appearances in front of the camera became less frequent from the beginning of the 1970s. She took on her last role in 1987, a year before her death, in glasses with gold rims .
