Esperanza Abad

Esperanza Abad (full name: Esperanza Lopez-Abad López; born February 9, 1941 in Mora, Toledo ) is a Spanish singer, actress, composer and music teacher . She made a name for herself as an interpreter of vocal music of the avant-garde .

Life

Esperanza Abad studied at the Conservatorio de Música y Arte Dramático de Madrid . During her intensive musical research work, she dealt with vocal and musical forms. She was a co-founder of CANON and LIM. She specialized in avant-garde music and worked with various Spanish and international ensembles. As a musician, she has participated in many national contemporary music events and festivals . She gave many courses on the use of the human voice for singers and actors, but also for choristers and musicians in general. Many composers dedicated compositions to her.

The Calle Esperanza Abad in San Sebastian de los Reyes is named after her.

The mezzo-soprano Pilar Esteban, jazz singer Cova Villegas, the singer and actress Noemí Mazoy and the Andalusian actor and singer Luis Qúo were among her students.

  • Despedida que no despide . Together with José Iges and Concha Jerez she wrote a scenic requiem in memory of the Canarian poet Agustín Millares Sall.
