Espostoa lanianuligera is a species of plant in the genus Espostoa from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Espostoa lanianuligera grows tree-shaped with shoots branched from the base to half the height and reaches heights of 3 to 5 meters. The green shoots have a diameter of 5 to 11 centimeters. There are 19 to 30 somewhat notched ribs that are 6 to 9 millimeters high. The 70 to 90 needle-like, whitish thorns are 6 to 9 millimeters long. The one or two central spines are developed late. They are awl, gray and 1 to 4 inches long. The cephalium is reddish to orange in color.
The white flowers are 5.5 to 7 inches long. The red to almost white fruits are 3 to 4 centimeters long.
Distribution and systematics
Espostoa lanianuligera is common in Peru in the lowlands of the Cajamarca region.
It was first described in 1981 by Friedrich Ritter . A synonym is Espostoa lanata subsp. lanianuligera (F.Ritter) GJCharles (2002).
