The Hair Group GmbH (formerly Essanelle Hair Grup ) is a Hairdresser company headquartered in Dusseldorf . With a market share of a good two percent, it is one of the largest companies in the industry in Germany and the only one that was traded on the stock exchange.

history

The company was founded in 1914 by Seligmann & Latz in New York. In 1967 the first salon was opened in Germany. In 1998 there was a management buy-out . The company has existed in its current form, i.e. as a GmbH , since 2014.

Takeover by Klier hairdresser

In 2002 Frisör Klier started buying Essanelle shares. In February 2014 Frisör Klier held more than 90% of the Essanelle shares, so that in August 2014 the remaining minority shareholders could be compensated and excluded as part of a squeeze-out . The company's shares were last traded on the stock exchange on August 12, 2014. Until then, the share was listed in the CDAX . At the same time, HairGroup AG was renamed HairGroup GmbH .

On June 1, 2018, HairGroup GmbH was merged with Klier Hair Group GmbH. In December 2018, employees were informed that the head office in Düsseldorf will be closed on July 31, 2019.

Business figures

At the end of 2009, Essanelle had 4,185 employees in 673 salons. Sales in 2009 amounted to EUR 128.0 million (previous year EUR 129.2 million). In the 2012 (2011) financial year, Essanelle generated sales of EUR 126.5 (127.2) million with 4,083 (4,016) employees. 684 (686) salons belonged to the company.

The HairGroup groups its salons under three different brands, namely essanelle Ihr Friseur , HairExpress and Super Cut . The brands differ in terms of prices, the services offered and the locations of the salons. The aim is to address a specific audience with each brand. According to HairGroup, this is a significant competitive advantage over independent salons, which are usually overwhelmed by presenting themselves as a brand. But customers expect this nowadays.

The salons are mostly located in shopping centers, department stores and hypermarkets. The anchor tenants should primarily bring walk-in customers to the salons.
