Essence Carson (born July 28, 1986 in Paterson , New Jersey , United States ) is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the New York Liberty in the Women's National Basketball Association .
Career
college
Carson studied at Rutgers University from 2004 to 2008 . Carson also played for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights , the university's women's basketball team , during this period .
Women's National Basketball Association
Carson was selected seventh in the 2008 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty . She made her WNBA debut on May 8th in a preseason game against the Washington Mystics . Already in her first season she was regularly in the starting lineup of the Liberty.
