history
The Essling cemetery was probably not built before 1789. Although Essling belonged to the parish Groß-Enzersdorf , the Esslinger church was included in burials in the local cemetery. In 1941 the existing buildings were converted into a laying out room with a separate burial chamber. After renovation work after the Second World War , the ceremonial room was expanded in 1952 with a new hall and a burial chamber and a support room were set up. Enclosure measures in the 1960s enclosed the previously carried out cemetery expansions, new groups of graves were created in 1979. After the burial room was renovated in 1970 and a company building was built in 1974, the cemetery was expanded again in the 1990s. After the expansion by 8,700 square meters on Gartenheimstrasse, a new cemetery hall had to be built. This includes the 100 square meter ceremonial room and a wall with urn niches. The hall was built according to plans by the architect Christof Riccabona and was opened on September 27, 1996.
