The Estádio Eládio de Barros Carvalho is a football stadium in the Brazilian city of Recife . It has space for 19,800 spectators and is the home of the Náutico Capibaribe association .
history
The Estádio Eládio de Barros Carvalho in the Brazilian city of Recife, the capital and largest city of the north-east Brazilian state of Pernambuco with a good million inhabitants , was built in 1939 and opened that same year. The record crowd in the stadium was set up when on July 21, 1968 Náutico Capibaribe and Sport Recife met and 31,065 people wanted to admire the 1-0 success of Náutico. In general, the capacity of the sports facility was greater in previous years. For a long time the stadium held around 25,000 spectators. In the 1970s , Náutico Capibaribe, which was then at the height of its sporting successes, considered building a new stadium for 80,000 spectators and demolishing the Estádio Eládio de Barros Carvalho.
