The Estádio Nacional de Cabo Verde is a football stadium with an athletics facility in Praia ( Santiago ), the capital of the African island state Cape Verde . It is mainly used for soccer games, including by the Cape Verdean national soccer team . It can seat 15,000 spectators and is state-owned.
history
After construction began in 2010, the Estádio Nacional was completed in June 2012. However, there was a 15-month delay, after which the capacity was increased from 10,000 to 15,000 and the stadium was finally completed in October 2013. The first game took place on September 10, 2014. The home side won the group F qualifying game between Cape Verde and Zambia for the 2015 African Cup of Nations with 2-1.
