The Estadio Banorte is a football stadium in Culiacan , the capital of the Mexican state of Sinaloa . It is named after the credit institution of the same name , which acquired the naming rights to the stadium.

history

The 21,000-seat stadium was built in the record time of just three months to serve as the home ground of the newly founded club Dorados de Sinaloa , which began playing in the second-rate Primera División 'A' in the 2003/04 season . After the association succeeded in direct ascent, he was in the seasons 2004/05 and 2005/06 in the first division represented and thus the stadium for two years the venue of Erstligabegegnungen. Another first division season was added in 2015/16 , when the Dorados were again represented in the top division.

The stadium opening took place on August 23, 2003 with the first home game of the Dorados in the second division against the north Mexican rival Cobras Ciudad Juarez .
