Estadio Héroe de Nacozari is a stadium in Hermosillo , the capital of the Mexican state of Sonora , that can accommodate 21,175 visitors to athletics and football events.

history

The name honors Jesús García Corona (1881-1907), who went down in history as the "hero of Nacozari" when he saved the city of Nacozari de García from an explosion, but was killed himself.

The stadium has already served as the home ground for several clubs from Hermosillo in the third and fourth leagues . In three and a half seasons it was even the venue of the second division , when the Gallos Blancos de Hermosillo (1995/96) and the Coyotes de Sonora (2005/06) for one season and the Guerreros FC (mid-2009 to the end of 2010) for one and a half years. were represented in the same.

On September 13, 1992, the stadium was the only venue for a first division match when Puebla FC moved their home game against Atlante (0-0) here. At the beginning of the 1992/93 season, the club could not use its stadium and had to play its first five home games on foreign courts, with the third home game taking place on the fifth game day in Hermosillo.

Concerts are also occasionally held in the stadium . On July 28, 2011, the Colombian world star Shakira performed at the Estadio Héroe de Nacozari.
