from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gallos Blancos de Hermosillo is a former Mexican football club from Hermosillo , the capital of the state of Sonora . The club existed only in 1995 and 1996, took part in the 1995/96 season in the game operations of the second-rate Primera División 'A' and participated in the cup tournaments of the 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons.

history

In their only second division season in 1995/96, the Gallos Blancos reached the finals against CF Pachuca , which were twice lost 2-1, so that promotion to the top division was reserved for the Tuzos . The team from Hermosillo also caused a sensation in the cup tournament of the 1995/96 season and eliminated the first division side Tiburones Rojos Veracruz (4: 3 on penalties after a 2: 2 in regular time) and Atlético Celaya (2: 0), with the Brazilian Valtencir Gomes scored three of the four goals. In the quarter-finals, the Gallos defied the Tigres de la UANL in regular time 1: 1, but failed with 2: 4 in the subsequent penalty shootout.

Although no longer represented in the league in the following season 1996/97, the Gallos took part again in the cup tournament held before the start of the season in 1996/97, where they, however, finished last in the preliminary round group consisting of eight teams. The most successful goalscorer of the team from Sonora this time was Juan Colorado, who scored a total of three goals.
