Estas Tonne ( Russian Эстас Тонне ; born April 24, 1975 , Zaporozhye , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian guitarist who plays the music he composed, which is largely improvised, of very personal character. Occasionally, in the manner of a modern troubadour, texts are interspersed in the concerts, which - partly sung, partly spoken, partly whispered - are intended to convey ideological and religious wisdom. Tonne also often works with other musicians with compatible demands, whereby the character of the performances oscillates between artistic and meditative.

Life

Tonne started playing the guitar at the age of six. At the age of eleven he and his family moved to Israel . Tonne has been traveling and giving concerts all over the world since 2002, including the USA, Mexico, Israel, India and Europe. He used the experience he gained on his travels to further develop his style. Ton plays a six-string acoustic guitar with a fingerpicking technique. Influences from flamenco, classical guitar, minimal music , meditation music, gypsy and klezmer music as well as from other areas can be heard.

Together with the violin virtuoso Michael Shulman , he gave a memorial concert in Union Square in New York in 2002 to commemorate the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 .
