Epitaph for Hans and Dorothea Esterreicher

The epitaph for Hans and Dorothea Esterreicher is in the Antonius Chapel of the Franciscan Church in Ingolstadt . The epitaph from Solnhofer Stein was created in 1522 by the sculptor Stephan Rottaler from Landshut .

The central scene is the mercy seat : God the Father holds the cross ( crucifix ) with the dead Christ in both hands, while the dove sits on the cross beam as a symbol of the Holy Spirit . Below on the left Hans Esterreicher († 1532) and on the right his wife Dorothea († 1521) are shown kneeling in a column-framed niche. Putti hold the respective coat of arms above the person. The colored version is only preserved in remnants.

The inscription reads: "Anno domi 1532 jar the Erberg man Hans Esterreicher died the 4th of October the got genad vnd dorothea his wife died on the 15th. Jar"
