Esther Schröder

Esther Schröder (born January 24, 1969 in Luckenwalde ) is a former German politician ( SPD , previously PDS ). She was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament from September 29, 1999 to October 21, 2009 .

Life and work

After her school career, Esther Schröder completed vocational training as a financial clerk from 1985 to 1987 and then passed her Abitur at the Freiberg Bergakademie in 1988/89 . From 1989 to 1994 she studied economics at the Humboldt University of Berlin and graduated as a Master in Economics from. From 1995 to 1997 she worked as a research assistant at the University of Konstanz in the field of labor market research. 1997 doctorate it to the Dr. rer. pole. (Doctor of Economics and Social Sciences) at the Center of International Labor Economics at the University of Konstanz.

After leaving politics, she has been working as a consultant for equality and gender policy at the Bremen Chamber of Employees since 2011 .

Schröder was in the election for the third parliament of the country Brandenburg on 5 September 1999 on the national list of the PDS in the state parliament elected. On October 16, 2002, she resigned from the PDS parliamentary group . Der Spiegel reported that Heinz Vietze had Schröder's expulsion in a closed session. Schröder said she had seen "SED live". Schröder initially belonged to the state parliament as a non-attached member . She became a member of the SPD in 2003 and joined the SPD parliamentary group on January 6, 2004. In the state elections on September 19, 2004 , Schröder ran successfully again, this time on the SPD state list, and was a member of the state parliament until the end of the fourth electoral period on October 21, 2009.

During the fourth electoral term of the state parliament, Schröder served as deputy chairwoman of the committee for labor, social affairs, health and family and from October 19, 2004 to August 30, 2006 as deputy chairperson of the SPD parliamentary group.

On May 23, 2004, at the suggestion of the SPD parliamentary group, she took part in the 12th Federal Assembly to elect the Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany.
