Heinz Vietze (born September 19, 1947 in Zeitz ) is a German politician ( SED , PDS , Die Linke ). In the GDR he was an unofficial employee of the State Security and SED functionary, after reunification he was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament until 2009 .

Education and political career in the GDR

After graduating from the Polytechnic High School , he completed vocational training as a lathe operator from 1964 to 1967 .

He then attended a one-year course for youth officials at the FDJ youth college "Wilhelm Pieck" . From 1968 to 1970 he worked as an employee of the FDJ district leadership in Potsdam and then until 1974 was first second and then first secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Potsdam. He then studied social sciences until 1977 at the party college of the SED in Berlin and graduated with a degree in social science .

From 1977 to 1983 he was first secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Potsdam and from 1984 to 1988 first secretary of the SED district leadership in Oranienburg and in 1988/89 in the same function in Potsdam. In November and December 1989 he was also first secretary of the SED district leadership in Potsdam for two months .

State Security staff

In the Ministry for State Security (MfS), Vietze was registered as a Social Security Employee (GMS) from May 1972 to May 1975 in his former function as secretary of the district leadership of the FDJ . At this time the registration ended because Vietze became a full-time employee at the FDJ and SED. As the head of the FDJ in the Potsdam district, he summoned the future Brandenburg Finance Minister Rainer Speer , who was then working in an FDJ cultural center, to him, and forced him to cancel a planned festival because church groups wanted to take part. During his time as an FDJ functionary, Vietze also passed on GDR-critical quotes from young people with names and addresses to the MfS.

In September 1989, at a meeting of the SED district leadership in Potsdam, Vietze declared: “If the opponent rises up to fight directly against us in his trench, aims sharply and uses everything he has at his disposal, then in the German Democratic Republic in this trench the Discussion about the last leaflet or the trench newspaper stop, we have to talk about who is aiming at this opponent, with fighting strength, with a class position. "

In 2011, an expert opinion prepared for the Enquete Commission to review the post-reunification period of the Brandenburg state parliament came to the conclusion that Vietze should have been asked to return his state parliament mandate during the legislative period from 1990 to 1994 because of his Stasi work. In the report on the Stasi review practice after the fall of the Wall it is described as "inexplicable" that Vietze was not even mentioned in the final report of the review commission of two church dignitaries from November 1991.

PDS member of the state parliament

From 1990 he was temporarily chairman of the PDS regional association Brandenburg . From 2004 he was a member of the party executive in the federal executive committee of Die Linke.PDS.

From October 1990 onwards, Heinz Vietze was a member of his party in the Brandenburg state parliament and from October 1990 to September 2007 he was also deputy parliamentary group chairman and parliamentary manager of the parliamentary group. Since October 1999 he has been deputy chairman of the main committee of the state parliament and since October 2004 a member of the state parliament presidium. From December 2003 to August 2004 he was also chairman of a committee of inquiry.

After his 60th birthday in September 2007, he resigned his party office and took over the chairmanship of the party-affiliated Rosa Luxemburg Foundation . In December 2012, Dagmar Enkelmann was elected chairman of the foundation, he himself no longer stood.
