Eduard Götzl

Eduard Götzl (born February 18, 1921 in Beschau , Czechoslovakia , † January 16, 1986 ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was the first secretary of the SED district leadership in Potsdam and Frankfurt (Oder) .

Life

Götzl, the son of a worker, attended the elementary school in Beschau and the vocational school in Karlsbad . He learned the profession of mechanic and then worked in this profession. In 1936 he became a member of the Socialist Youth Workers of Czechoslovakia. During the Second World War , Götzl was first drafted into military service and then worked from 1943 to 1945 as an armaments worker in the aircraft industry.

In 1945 he became a member of the KPD , in 1946 a member of the SED. 1945/1946 he was a member of the German People's Police . From 1946 to 1949 he worked as an instructor for the SED regional leadership in Thuringia . In 1949/50 he studied at the party college "Karl Marx" and was then party secretary in the Maxhütte (Unterwellenborn) from 1950 to 1951 . From July to August 1951 he worked as first secretary of the SED district leadership in Erfurt and from August 1951 to August 1954 as works director of the Brandenburg steel and rolling mill . In 1949 Götzl became a member of the SED regional leadership in Thuringia and in 1952 a member of the SED district leadership in Potsdam. From 1950 to 1954 he was a candidate, then from 1954 to 1963 a member of the Central Committee of the SED . From September 1954 to July 1955 he studied the party college of the CPSU in Moscow .

From September 1955 he was secretary for economics in the SED district leadership in Potsdam. By decision of the Politburo of the SED Central Committee, he represented Kurt Seibt from April 1956 to August 1957 as the acting First Secretary of the SED district leadership in Potsdam. During this time, Seibt was at the party college of the CPSU in Moscow. After his return, he took over the role of Secretary for Economics again until March 1958. From April 1958 to August 1961 he held the position of first secretary of the SED district leadership in Frankfurt (Oder). Because he could not guarantee strict enforcement of the party's resolutions , he was replaced by a resolution of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the SED on August 2, 1961.

Between September 1961 and August 1963 he acted as the first deputy chairman of the Potsdam District Council and was a member of the Potsdam SED district leadership from 1964 to 1981. From September 1963 to January 1970 he was head of the workers and peasants inspection of the Potsdam district and from February 1970 to January 1979 first secretary of the SED district leadership in Rathenow (successor to Ulrich Schlaak ). He was released from this position for health reasons.

From 1958 to 1963 Götzl was a member of the People's Chamber , from 1958 to 1961 he was also a member of the Frankfurt (Oder) district assembly and from 1963 to 1981 a member of the Potsdam district assembly.

Götze was married and the father of two children. He last lived as a widower in Potsdam and died at the age of 64. His urn was buried in the New Cemetery in Potsdam .
