Ulrich Schlaak

Ulrich Schlaak (born November 1, 1932 in Schartowsthal , Brandenburg province , † February 25, 2016 ) was a German politician ( SED ). For many years he was the second secretary of the SED district leadership in Potsdam .

Life

Schlaak, the son of a middle farmer, attended the village school in his birthplace until 1945 and, after moving to the Soviet occupation zone, the central school in Wusterhausen / Dosse and the secondary school in Neustadt until 1949. He became a member of the FDJ in 1949 and the SED in 1951. From 1949 to 1951 he was instructor and secretary for agitation and propaganda of the FDJ district leadership Neuruppin and from 1951 to 1953 instructor of the FDJ central council. In 1954 he was secretary of the FDJ basic organization (GO) in the VEB Tractor Works Brandenburg and from 1954 to 1959 first secretary of the FDJ district management Brandenburg. From 1958 to 1961 he completed an apprenticeship as an amelioration specialist in the VEB water maintenance in Potsdam. From 1959 to 1961 he worked as head of the youth facility “Milchader Berlin”. From 1961 to 1965 he acted as first secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Potsdam (successor to Fred Müller ). From 1963 to 1990 he was a member of the Potsdam District Assembly. He completed his studies from 1965 to 1967 at the industrial institute of the University of Rostock with a degree in engineering and economics . From 1967 to 1970 he was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Rathenow and from April 1970 to January 1976 first secretary of the SED district leadership in Potsdam (successor to Rolf Weihs ). In 1974/75 he completed additional studies at the Academy of Social Sciences in Moscow. From January 1976 to November 1989 he was the second secretary of the SED district leadership in Potsdam (successor to Günther Jahn ). On November 15, 1989, after the resignation of the entire secretariat, he was re-elected as second secretary at a meeting of the district management. In January 1990 he resigned as second secretary of the SED-PDS district leadership and left the PDS.

Schlaak worked from 1990 to 1992 as managing director in a construction company and from 1992 to 1998 as construction manager in an architecture and engineering office in Niemegk. On January 13, 1994, he was charged with inciting election fraud, and on October 27, 1994, the Potsdam District Court sentenced him to a one-year suspended prison sentence.

Schlaak died at the age of 83 and was buried in the forest cemetery in Brieselang .
