Rolf Weihs
Rolf Weihs (born March 19, 1920 in Goldlauter , Suhl district , † November 27, 2000 in Erfurt ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was a member of the Central Committee of the SED and first secretary of the SED district leadership in Karl-Marx-Stadt .
Life
As the son of a shepherd, he became a member of the Young Pioneers, the KPD 's children's organization, before 1933 . After attending primary school , he completed an apprenticeship as a metal former. During the Second World War he was drafted into military service in the Wehrmacht in January 1942 and was taken prisoner by the Soviets as a corporal in May 1945 .
Dismissed in September 1948, he became a member of the SED in October 1948 and worked in a plastics press shop in Suhl until April 1949. He then became a functionary in the SED district leadership in Suhl, then in the state leadership of Thuringia and in the district leadership in Suhl. After attending the Suhl district party school in Meiningen, in 1953/54 he studied at the party college of the CPSU Central Committee in Moscow. From 1954 to 1958 he was second secretary and from 1958 to 1960 first secretary of the SED area leadership in Wismut . From 1958 he was a candidate and from July 1960 to January 1963 a member of the Central Committee of the SED. From March 1960 to February 1963 he was the first secretary of the SED district leadership in Karl-Marx-Stadt. After three years in office, Weihs was dismissed from his position "because he did not have the quality required to manage such an important industrial district".
From April 1963 to April 1970 he was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Potsdam and from 1963 to 1971 he was also a member of the Potsdam district assembly . From 1970 to February 1984 he was deputy chairman of the district party control commission of the SED Erfurt .
