Horst Dohlus
Horst Paul Dohlus (born May 30, 1925 in Plauen ; † April 28, 2007 in Berlin ) was a high-ranking SED functionary in the GDR as a member of the Politburo and secretary of the Central Committee .
Life
Dohlus completed his training as a hairdresser in 1939–1942 and worked until 1943 as a hairdresser assistant. He was committed to the Reich Labor Service in 1943 and was a soldier in the Wehrmacht until 1945 . Until 1946 he was an American prisoner of war .
After his captivity he joined the SED and became a party functionary with the Wismut . From 1951 to 1953 he was the second secretary of the SED area leadership. He was also a member of the People's Chamber from 1950 to 1954 . In 1955 he was reprimanded for “behavior that was harmful to the party and continued violations of party morals”.
After attending the party college of the CPSU in Moscow in 1954/1955, he became party organizer of the SED Central Committee in the Black Pump Combine until 1958 and second secretary of the SED district leadership in Cottbus until 1960.
From 1960 to 1986 Dohlus was head of the party organs department at the SED Central Committee. In 1971 he was again a member of the People's Chamber and a member of the secretariat of the Central Committee of the SED, since 1973 as secretary for party organs. In 1976 he became a candidate and in 1980 a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED, and in 1986 a member of the Cadre Committee of the Central Committee of the SED.
Dohlus resigned with the Politburo in November 1989 and was on 20/21. January 1990 excluded from the SED- PDS . In the trial for manslaughter and joint responsibility at the border regime of the GDR (so-called Politburo trial ), the case against Dohlus was discontinued in June 1997 because of his heart disease.
His grave is in the central cemetery in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde .
Awards
Dohlus was awarded the Labor Banner in 1968 and 1970 , the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1964, 1969 and 1983, the Hero of Labor in 1975 and the Karl Marx Order in 1979 and 1985 .
