Mario Niemann

Mario Niemann (* 1971 in Parchim ) is a German contemporary historian .

Life

From 1991 to 1996, Niemann studied history, prehistory and early history as well as political science and political science at the University of Rostock (MA 1996). In 1999 he was awarded the doctoral thesis of Mecklenburg large estates in the Third Reich (1933-1945). Studies on the social structure, economic position and political role for Dr. phil. PhD. Then he was a research assistant at the Chair of Contemporary History (Professorship Werner Müller ). In 2006 he qualified as a professor for modern and contemporary history at the Philosophical Faculty with the support of the German Research Foundation (Habilitation thesis:The secretaries of the SED district leadership 1952 to 1989 ) and became a private lecturer and research assistant in the work area "Modern German Agricultural History" at the Historical Institute, which he heads today. Since 2012 he has been an adjunct professor for contemporary and agricultural history at the Historical Institute of the University of Rostock. In 2013 he became an associate member of the state's research and documentation center on the history of dictatorships in Germany (FDS).
