The Estrada do Coco (dt. Coconut Road ) is a highway in the state of Bahia in Brazil . It runs north of Salvador da Bahia along the Atlantic coast lined with many plantations with coconut palms . It has been operated by CLN ( C oncessionária L itoral N orte) since 2000 . The southern section of the BA-099 state road between Lauro de Freitas at Salvador International Airport and Praia do Forte is called Estrada do Coco . The subsequent northern section of the BA-099, the Linha Verde (German green line ), extends to the border with the state of Sergipe . The total length of the federal highway BA-099 is 217 km.

Toll

The Estrada do Coco is a toll road . The toll can be bypassed on both sides with a detour. A car is charged 4.60 reais on working days and 6.90 reais on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The toll is also used to finance breakdown services , for which emergency telephones are installed along the road every 2 km . If the vehicle has a defect on the route operated by CLN (from km 4), this will be repaired on site if possible or the vehicle will be towed away free of charge.
