Eswatini Airlink , until 2018 Swaziland Airlink , is the national airline Eswatinis based in Manzini and based at King Mswati III International Airport.

history

In 1999 the government of Swaziland, as a majority shareholder (60%), founded a joint venture called Swaziland Airlink Pty Ltd. together with the South African airline Airlink . as the successor to the state airline Royal Swazi National Airways . The start of flight operations took place in April 1999, initially until September 2012 with own aircraft under an AOC from Swaziland. Since 2012, Swaziland has left Airlink, or now Eswatini Airlink, to provide the entire flight service to its South African parent company. It currently used and uses (as of April 2020) aircraft, crew, traffic rights, AOC and the Airlink flight service license.

Swaziland Airlink, like the South African Airlink (which operated temporarily under the South African Airlink brand ), cooperates with South African Airways . In addition to the common frequent flyer program Voyager, there are also codeshare agreements between the companies.

Since 2006, Swaziland Airlink has been on the list of operating bans for the airspace of the European Union . However, on April 10, 2014 this ban was lifted.

After the renaming from Swaziland to Eswatini in 2018, the airline was also given a new name.

From June 11th, 2020 [obsolete] Eswatini Airlink will operate with an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from Eswatini for the first time .

Destinations

Eswatini Airlink operates scheduled flights from Eswatini to Johannesburg several times a day . There is a connection to the international route network of the parent company South African Airways . Freight and charter flights are also offered to other countries in southern Africa , such as Lesotho or Mozambique .
