Ethnic groups in Mozambique

The list of the peoples of Mozambique lists the ethnic groups of the south-east African country Mozambique alphabetically and, if known, with details of alternative spellings (in brackets and italics), designation of the language and population size.

Overall, the number of ethnic groups in Mozambique is estimated at around 78 who speak around 40 different languages. Most of these ethnic groups belong to the group of the Bantu peoples and speak a Bantu language , with most people speaking several native languages. Overall, the Bantu make up 96% of the population. In addition, minorities of people of Portuguese , Indian , East Asian (Indonesia, Malaysia) or Chinese descent live here .
